Indian community and variety of special food
Indian sweets and festivals are two sides of a coin and are
like made for each other.
Traditionally when people celebrate Religious Festivals,
Social Functions/Gathering, National Holidays, or Special Occasion
they eat and distribute sweets among friends and relatives.
Sweets are expressions of joy and happiness. In
any type of election, if party wins, sweets like Penda, Jalebi and
Bundi will be distributed and enjoyed among the people. If any Puja
is there or when they buy new house, sweets will be first seen in
front of God's idol. If somebody deliver a baby boy in the family,
they distribute Penda among the relatives and friends and if baby
girl then they distribute Jalebi among the well wishers.
The main festivals of Indian people is the Diwali
and New year. People enjoy with variety of sweets like kaju katri,
Gajar Halwa, Pistal rolls, Types of Burfee, Penda, Jalebi, Besan
Laddu and what not!!
Some people like to have Namkeen/Farsan. Hundreds
of farsans are served at each big famous shop. Types of sev, Ganthia,
Mix Chevda, Fafda, Samosa, Kachori, Petis, Patra and so on... are
common farsan enjoyed by the Indian community everyday.
On the day of Dashera, people enjoy with
Jalebi (Sweet) and Fafda-Chutny (Farsan) together. Holi, Baisakhi,
Pongal, Durga puja and Festival of kites are incomplete without
sweets and farsan. Even on fasting days people eat special
sweets.
Indian culture is a treasure of sweets and farsans!!!!
